InfoScan Formulary Database

The InfoScan Formulary Database™ (IFDB) is a comprehensive integration of formulary information from managed care organizations (MCO), pharmacy benefit management (PBM) companies, health maintenance organizations (HMO), preferred provider organizations (PPO), self-insured employers and other healthcare plans. The database also includes all State Medicaid formularies and over 1000 Medicare Part D plans. The information received from each of the organizations has been standardized into one data set to simplify the processing and understanding of the information. The InfoScan Formulary Database is updated and quality checked on a daily basis to ensure the file is current and accurate. The drug information contained in the IFDB is provided directly from the participating plans which support our objective of providing the most accurate and up-to-date information available today - and from one main source!

Information is collected from over 5,000 plans across the United States and includes information such as drug status and relative price ranking on approved drugs, along with MCO policies for non-listed and non-approved drugs. Further detail provides notes for Prior Authorization classifications, MCO policies for classes of members and therapeutic guidelines. Tiered formularies are handled within the file as well. Information is continuously updated through automatic follow-up with MCOs according to P&T meeting schedules and information update schedules for the MCOs.
